ACADEMICS
Core Subjects
Students have content area classes in all core subjects: Math, Language Arts, Social Studies, and Science.
Core subjects are on a standards-based, rotating model, to ensure that our students are exposed to all grade level standards within their cohorts.
Electives
CASL offers a variety of electives in areas such as CTE, Leadership, Art, Music, and core electives.
These areas are the target areas for Service Learning projects as they connect with the students' individual interest and passions.
Service Learning
Service Learning projects are semester-long and connected to an academic content area and/or area of interest for the student. Projects may be community service-oriented or internship-oriented. In all service learning settings, students will gain skills related to an academic area of study demonstrating how academic content exists outside of the classroom.
Student Success
Student Success is a highly focused tutoring setting that uses researched methods and strategies for academic success. This semester of intentional academic skills practice is designed to prepare students for future grades as well as post high school education.
Foundations
All of our core subjects are supported by a foundations version of the course to support students who are struggling with grade-level mastery. Core courses are supported by classroom assistants and special education services as needed.
Civic Engagement
Students will have the opportunity to engage with their community through learning about citizen rights and responsibilities, connecting with local government officials, and participating in city wide civic projects and events.
